Should We be Tired?

During the preparation to go to Asheville, we created a schedule for NaNa and PaPaw. After re-reading it I feel as if Jamison and I should be exhausted, but it really isn't as bad as it reads.

5:45 AM and 6:15 AM (Tyler Wakes Up. It is generally 5:45)

Between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM

  1. Diaper change
  2. Breakfast
  • Oatmeal
3 scoops of oatmeal mixed with a little water.
Heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.
Mash up a little banana or add a little applesauce to the oatmeal.
    Add a little milk.
  • 3 scoops of formula and 6 ounces of water in a bottle
Little Juice or milk with breakfast, but it isn’t a must.

Gets cranky around 8:30 or 9 (Pacifier helps this)

9:30 AM
Nap time - Typically naps for 2 hours on this one. Normally 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

Between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM

I generally get to work between 11:30 and 12:00.

Tyler Wakes up, and is ready for lunch once he has had a diaper change.
Lunch

  1. starts out with some puffs or rice cake pieces and some juice (50% juice, 50% water) or water with ice.
  2. One container of veggies (3.5 to 4 ounces)
  3. Maybe a few spoonfuls of grownup apple sauce (no sugar) or cottage cheese (made with 4 percent milk he likes best) just to break the monotony of the veggies a little.
  4. He takes a SIPPIE-CUP of formula after lunch. 2 scoops of formula and 4 ounces of water, shake it up and see how much he will drink.

2:30 PM

  1. Takes a bottle (3 scoops of formula and 6 oz of water)
  2. Lay him down some time after he has had the bottle. No later that 3:00.
  3. He generally sleeps till 4:30 or 5:00. We don’t let him sleep past 5:30.

Between 6:00 and 6:30 PM
Dinner for Tyler

  1. Starts out with Rice Cake Pieces or Puffs and Ice Water in a sippie cup
  2. 3.5 to 4 oz of baby food
  3. Half a container of Fruit
  4. It is definitely not necessary, but we generally pull something else out of our dinner if we happen to have it on hand.
  • Suggestions (We pull a portion out for Tyler before we season it)
  • Mix Rice into Veggies
  • Peas (do not need to be mashed)
  • Green Beans (cut-up into small pieces)
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Apple Sauce
  • Chicken
  • Fish
  • Cheese
  • Bread
  • Cooked Vegies

Bottle – 3 scoops with 6 oz of water

7:00 PM (Bath Every Couple of Days)

7:30 PM

  1. Begin Night Night Routine
  2. Get into Pajamas.
  3. Read a book, sing songs, and then say a prayer.
  4. At 8:00 put him down to sleep.

8:00 PM

We generally begin to get ready for bed and are generally asleep between 9:30 and 10:00.

Notes:

  1. His nap schedule is generally a little off when we travel so don’t worry if he doesn’t sleep an hour and a half.
  2. He get’s a little impatient when he is hungry so I try to get his meal ready before I get him out of bed. Sometimes this is impossible…so I just try and give him his passy. Other times I just have to let him cry.
  3. Will take a bottle with water that is at room temperature. It does not need to be heated.
  4. The darker the room the better he sleeps.
  5. Please No sweet things like candy, cookies, ice cream, sodas, chocolate.
  6. Do not need to burp him during his bottle. He tends to get upset when he is interrupted.
  7. He can hold the bottle himself – we just lie him on the ground and we go about fixing ourselves something to eat.
  8. Change diaper as needed, but always change before nap and bedtime.
  9. We put him down for nap and bedtime awake. We place him in his crib awake and say night-night, and we walk out. He may play, talk, and possibly cry for about 15 or 20 minutes. When it suddenly gets quiet, just go in and make sure he is covered up.
  10. When he seems to get a little cranky we just give him his pacifier to help him hold out till nap time.
  11. Watch him when he is eating; sometimes he gets a little choked. I try to always have something liquid close by.
